Welcome To Jeff Barnes' Real Estate Entrepreneurship Page!
So, as you may have figured out based on my home page (www.mrjeffbarnes.com), I am very enthusiastic about keeping today's youth healthy, active, and well informed about nutrition. However, what you probably don't realize is that I am also very active in the real estate community as well. I am a member of the REIAWA (Real Estate Investors Assoc. in WA), and work with various partners to buy, hold, and sell large multi-family apartments. I know what you're thinking- "how can a guy who talks about childhood obesity know anything about apartment buildings?!?"Well, let me ask you this- do you know more about something outside of your current career/job than you do about that actual job? I would bet the answer is yes. Perhaps a mother of three in a suburban area knows more about finding her way around town without getting on the busy interstates than she does about being a vet-tech during the day. Maybe the high school history teacher enjoys playing the saxophone on the evenings and weekends as a hobby.
So it is with my roles in real estate, commercial insurance (yeah, there's another thing I do), and childhood obesity. There are simply too many hours in a day for me to waste focusing on only one job/career path. Therefore, I commit a certain percentage of my waking hours to all three of these areas. If I had my choice (which soon I will), I would be running a large franchise dedicated to helping keep children healthy a majority of my time, and real estate as a side gig. However, in the mean time I spend about equal time on these two areas, and a little more on the commercial insurance side.
So, what is it that I actually do for my real estate duties? Well, I wear a few different hats, but here's a short list:
1. Continuously marketing for and making offers on large (>50 units) apartment buildings.
2. Solicit funds from private parties to invest with me as either debt or equity partners.
3. Attend local REI meetings and events to network with people.
4. Lease out a couple of single family homes (until I decide to sell them)
5. Various other opportunities as they come along.
So, if you'd like to learn more about what I do and have to offer, go ahead and drop me a line. I'm not an agent/broker, so I never list properties, but I'm always available to work with people if the deal is right.
Take care,
Jeff
