One of the biggest problems many of us face is obesity. Obesity symptoms are not necessarily hard to detect. When a person is carrying excess fat on his waist, buttocks, or thighs, he is most likely obese. Obesity is not something that we can just take for granted. It is a serious disease, as it carries with it a wide variety of significant medical health risks. Mental health conditions could also arise in people who are obese, especially children.
Extra fat in a person’s body tend to settle in areas around the waist and chest or in the hips and buttocks, making that person look like a giant apple or pear, hence the term apple-shaped or pear-shaped. These are generally considered as one of theobesity symptoms . Overweight men tend to become apple-shaped, since they mostly carry excess fat around their waist and chest. Obese women, on the other hand, are more likely pear-shaped, because most of their extra fat is concentrated around the hips and buttocks region. Although some overweight women who are done with the menopausal stage will most likely turn out apple-shaped.
Obesity is not a normal condition that the human body goes through. So naturally, an overweight body is more likely uncomfortable and may experience a wide range of problems. These problems can be characterized asobesity symptoms.
These obesity symptoms may include shortness of breath. Obese people tend to have short and shallow breathing. Movement can become limited because of the extra effort that they to exert just to move around. The air that is inhaled cannot be able to flow easily to the lungs because of the extra fat around the chest and back area. The lungs cannot expand normally. This is one of the reasons why obese people tend to lose their breath easily.
Tiring easily can also be one of the obesity symptoms. Shortness of breath means less oxygen in the blood. This can result in energy loss, which leaves you always feeling tired. Because of this, many obese people find doing typical household chores become more and more difficult. Imagine carrying a 20 pound sack of rice everywhere you go. That is not easy, but that’s how many obese people feel.
Joint pains and muscle pains are the other obesity symptoms. Because of the excess weight they carry around, it is inevitable that joint pains, especially in the knees and ankles, are common. Muscle pains around the lower back area are also quite common among obese people. However, the most obvious symptom of obesity is probably the physical appearance. Just by that fact alone, one can estimate if a person is obese or overweight.
